Marketing is regarded as a necessity in order for any business to survive, let alone thrive. Digital marketing now allows businesses to measure the success of some their marketing efforts easily. But at the rate of change in the digital world and knowing what SEO tools among other digital marketing tools to use can leave a lot of us daunted at the thought of where to start. Being a new business ourselves and well versed in the digital marketing world we were eager to get stuck into using and researching some of the best tools in the market today – from free SEO tools to content marketing, social media to email marketing, AdWords to PR and everything in between. And as with any company, we are constantly looking for the best solutions that don’t cost the earth! So over the next few blogs we’ve decided to ‘preach what we practice’ and let you in on a few little gems we have come across that will certainly help drive results in the area of ranking, Google, SEO tools, email marketing tools and content writing. There are many many great SEO tools and other digital marketing tools out there and only one of me so I’ve decided to cover a few of my top pics and have broken them down into three blog posts. This being my first one covers the area of SEO tools and Email Marketing tools. My next blog post will cover Google AdWords, PR and Social Media and content writing. Ok, let's begin… SEO Tools This is one of the biggest areas of marketing and arguably the most important as its ongoing nature requires a huge commitment from marketing teams especially because Google constantly changes its algorithms. Did you know that 50% of local-mobile searches are looking for business information like a local address ( Source: Hubspot, 2016). There are case studies aplenty showing the benefit of using SEO tools by organisations. Seeing as we are a nation who talks about the weather I was bemused to read how SEO helped the UK Met Office in their endeavours. You can check out the case study here. In the meantime, I've highlighted a few great SEO tools that can certainly help you in your own endeavours in SEO. Ahrefs As an alternative to Google keyword Planner AhRefs reveals not only provides analysis on keywords, this comprehensive tool provides great insight into crawl reports, domain health, and backlink analysis. You can also check what your competitors are doing and how you measure against them. The main dashboard provides a great user experience with very responsive and easy to use navigation tools. The main appealing features I found were a) in-depth analysis of your and competitor activity and SEO efforts, B) the keyword explorer provides great insight into global search volumes on Google and lest not forget c) a very responsive and helpful support team. This great tool used to be free but still for a nominal fee of $7 you can trial it for 7 days. Keyword Eye With the recent changes in Google Keyword Planner now not enabling us to do full keyword searches this SEO tool is a great alternative. And it’s free too. The video tutorials couldn’t be easier to follow. It’s a great first step into the world of SEO. This tool delivers results within a keyword cloud of suggestions. By clicking on a keyword, you can view the search engine results that corresponds to the geographic location you’ve chosen. It’s a great tool for helping you decide on the right keywords for your site. SEO score Checker SEO Score Checker is a great marketing tool that checks, well, your SEO! It's free and very quick and easy to use. It gives you a score and if you do well you are even provided with a certificate to place on your website. It checks items like titles, headings, img tags, keywords, sitemap, page or domain authority and much more. It shows you where you grade well and where you need to work on. Screaming Frog This is a great digital tool for getting your head around the more ‘tech’ side of SEO: alt text, H1 tags and more. Simply run your website through the system and it tells you all the outstanding SEO issues you have on your website – from missing meta titles to image files being over 100kb’s. There is a free version that allows you to analyse up to 500 URLs. The depth of the reporting is fantastic. It’s extremely easy to install onto your computer too. Email Marketing - MailChimp Well, I can really only reference one of the best tools out there, for pure email - MailChimp. MailChimp is probably the most effective email marketing tool for any business to start off with, particularly due to its ease of use and free service up to 2,000 subscribers and 12k emails per month. After that, you need to pay (a small fee, mind you). There’s plenty of email templates to choose from the will help you to design visually appealing emails, that can be easily amended. They offer A/B testing so you can measure the performance of your campaigns and see which one works best. To conclude The growing expectation for marketers to have a more technologically minded approach is alive and kicking. Technology is at the forefront of innovation and product development, but with the help of some great SEO tools and email marketing tools mentioned above, it allows businesses more easily adapt to the ever-increasing digital society that we're doing business in. But if you’d rather focus on what you do best, there's always a digital marketing agency who can do what works best for you…. Marketing Matters after all ;-) Written by Audrey Grant References:
